Fall senators represent their residence hall or off campus district, while spring senators represent their college or academic classification. Students with 0 to 29 credit hours completed (transfer or AP hours included) represent the freshman class, Students with 30 to 59 credits represent the sophomore class. Undergrads with 60 or more credits represent their college (e.g. Liberal Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering). Law, medicine, dentistry, nursing or veterinary medicine students represent their college, and all other graduate students fill non-specific graduate seats.

In order to qualify to run for senate there are a few requirements. First, you must be a full time student taking at least 12 credits for undergrads or at least 6 credits for graduates. What am I getting myself into?

Senate meetings every Tuesday night at 7:30 PM. As a member of the Student Alliance, you will also be expected to attend weekly party meetings which will be scheduled following the election.

The campaign is very time intensive, and you will be expected to put in several hours per day leading up to the election. However, if you do put in the time, your hard work will pay off when you become a Senator with the Student Alliance.

How do I run?

As we mentioned above, qualifying will be on Friday, January 29, Monday, February 1, and Tuesday, February 2. You will need to bring your Gator 1 card to room 284 of the Reitz Union. Once there, you will fill out a form with the Supervisor of Elections then you will be able to come to the Student Alliance room and interview to run for Senate. Feel free to bring us a resume if you have one. We don't care what you wear, but be sure to bring your best ideas for UF's future. If you have any questions, email us at join@ufstudentalliance.com. We hope to see you then!
